Dear ICANN, I am a registrant of several .com domain names and I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. It has come to our attention that ICANN is involved in closed door nepotism with Verisign. We will like to voice our concern that we are againt any deal that will give verisign the right to increase prices it charges wholesale registrars and any decision should be put forth to the collect for vote. I don't understand why ICANN, an organization that has been entrusted with overseeing the internet TLD system, is violating that trust through this ridiculous agreement with Verisign. To the casual observer, it looks like Verisign is paying off ICANN for allowing them to jack up the prices of .com domains. It's a win for Verisign, a win for ICANN, and a loss for everybody else. Please reconsider.

I totally oppose to the raising of .com prices. It makes absolutely no sense. If anything, technology costs are decreasing. Also, there is less competition than there was about 10 years ago because there are additional extensions now. The people that manage to find a proper .com domain should not be penalized for having them. It is absurd and just another governmental step toward stifling small business.

Pls ICANN do not increase the price of the .COM domain, cuz we the customers that purchase this .COM domain spend our hard earned money to purchase them and renew their purchases annually and this in turn affects our business cuz we have so many other things that saps our money in our businesses as you know taxes inclusive, so if this increase u want to implement takes effect we are not going to be finding it easy at all to keep our businesses afloat some of us might loose our businesses to insufficient funds, if we do then there wouldn't be money to purchase new domains or renew the ones we have purchased before and I know you don't want this to happen, so please reconsider your decision and pls don't increase the price of the .COM domain. Thank you 🙏

Dear Madam, or Sir, I am concerned about this amendment to the Registry Agreement because it will affect, not just me, buy any individual who would like their own domain name. I am 100% sure that no corporation will object to the 28% cost increase every six years as they earn money off their domain name and paying almost any amount would be acceptible to them. However, there are a great deal of small businesses that would see this as a burden as well as individual users out there that have purchased their own domain name and are using it for personal use, not commercial use. Several of us have multiple domain names, if for no other reason than to protect our own names from being used to run a website. I personally have about 6 that I use to protect myself and my family while also allowing my children to be able to have a domain name that is exclusively theirs. 20 year Cost analysis: $ 7.85 / year 2018 $10.29 / year 2023 (31% increase over 2018) $13.49 / year 2029 (72% increase over 2018) $17.68 / year 2035 (125% increase over 2018) $23.17 / year 2041 (195% increase over 2018) I am aware that the 7% is a maximum per year for each of the four years and, theoretically, there could be no increase or a sub 7% increase some years, however, I have little faith on this being the norm and, most certainly, CANNOT plan on it being any less than the full 7% in any fiscal plans made. I understand it would be extremely difficult for you to create a regulation that would charge businesses more and individuals less, however, that may be what is required at this time. This would leave a loophole for businesses to have an individual register their domain name, however, no corporation of any size will be willing to leave their domain names in private hands. This would also allow fledgling businesses (aka startups) to keep their costs low at first. Remember, many businesses have been started in individual's garages. You may also assume that all ".com" domain names are used for, or are supposed to be used for commercial purposes, however, this is not the case today. If this had been defined and enforced from the beginning of the internet, this would be a non-issue, however, to start enforcing it today would cause many many individuals to lose their domains. Yes, there are other top level domains they can move to, however, that doesn't alleviate the fact that they would be losing an asset they had invested much time, money, and resources acquiring. Please keep the annual fee very low or consider a more flexible charging system for the .COM top level domain that will keep it accessible to individuals and small businesses. Thank you,

I left a public comment during the .ORG ICANN fiasco. And in light of ICANN's new .COM shenanigans, I'm leaving this public comment as well. The registration cost of .IN domains is less than $1. How come the registration cost of .COM domains is so much higher? And how can ICANN justify raising costs even further? The cost of running a database – which is all the domain registry is – is a fraction of what it was in the 1990s when the US government first granted ICANN a contract to oversee the world's DNS. Now it looks like ICANN is accepting a $20 million bribe from Verisign in exchange for removing price caps, so that Verisign can price-gouge the millions of small businesses who rely on .COM domains. You may be able to get away with doing this to nonprofits like freeCodeCamp.org but there's no way the millions of small businesses who use the .COM TLD are going to accept this. Quit taking bribes from Verisign, Ethos Capital, and other corporations. Start making prices go down, not up.
