It pains to hear that ICANN as a body does not have humanity at heart. The cost of running a blog will skyrocket, some blogs out there to provide information to internet users will fold. I ask ICANN is this what you want?? Please have us in mind and don't increase the cost of domain registration.

I was saddened to see the recent Verisign/ICANN agreement activities. Especially, the lack of transparency and good ol boy type business dealings. This casts a big shadow over the Internet management oversight. As we have seen in the current government/politicians/business corruption this mirrors the same model - which is: money + organizations + secrecy + monopoly = corruption or the possibility, or the perception of it - none of which are good. Where is the openness and free enterprise? This behind closed doors agreement between ICANN and VERISIGN was all done secretively. It should be totally canceled and bids sent out to manage the .COM registrations. Jon

I own over 125 domains (most of them .com's), and I oppose your plan to allow such broad reaching and largely unrestricted price increases. There is no way that the cost of running scalable registries is increasing at such a pace -- in fact, it's certainly past the scaling phase and stabilizing as web infrastructure services have become a commodity. Allowing these price increases serves only corporate greed and not the public good. It will harm the availability of registering domains in low-income areas of the world, effectively contributing to drowning out the voices of those who most need a voice through the internet/web. --Kyle Simpson

I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Please explain why your making deals with Verisign in secret behind closed doors without consulting your community or internet users as a whole. These decisions raise prices which are harmful to customers and the internet as a whole. You continue to raise rates to registrars for .COM domains and have for many years in a row. I was alerted by my registrar that this proposal did not have sufficient oversight and was drafted behind closed doors. This is unacceptable for a change that will have such a tremendous effect on the internet as a whole. Hi, I use my domain for 2 years and I feel satisfied with today's prices and features. As I saw, you plan to increase prices and I can just say that I highly disagree with this step. I think that some of those prices would definitely make a change for many companies and it is really unfair to your users.

Hello, I've been recently informed of the decision to allow Verisign to increase the registration price for .com domain and I believe this is a very bad decision. Internet became what it is today because anyone with a good idea could create a website and get in touch with the entire world, with little to no means. Now this price increase would definitely get your more money but would eventually hurt entrepreneurship by making it more expensive to get even the basic .com domain name for a project.

Hi there, please do not increase pricing on domain registrations. Low cost domain registration is vital for the world internet community. Unless there is a clear and tangible benefit to raising the costs, do everything possible to keep them low and put restrictions on increases so that these costs are not inflated just based on market value.
