A ".com" website is one of the fundamental building blocks of the internet, and pursuing such a path - especially without alerting those who would be impacted - I think is a truly awful thing to do. The proposed rise is way too high. The amount of the rise should be much lower and it should not be in perpetuity. It should only be for a few years and see how verisign abuse it. It should be revised every 10 years or so. ICANN should work for the people and take decision for the people, not to enrich their own pockets.

The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest and this increase would not add any benefit to the public. Owning a domain name has become a must when you have a business, a group that has a special interest or a hobby you want to share with the world. This increase would not bring value to anyone but the company pocketing the money and that does not feel caring for the rest of the individuals just trying to have a way to reach the world. The Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement is a VERY bad idea.. Raising the price of the .com domain will severely impact our business and cause us to raise prices for all our customers. My research indicates they have a very low fixed cost to manage the domain registry and the fact they have gained your compliance with a $20 million return to ICANN is disturbing Federal government "practice". If you continue to increase the cost of .com registry cost at the proposed 7% increase per year that will end up hurting a lot of small and medium sized businesses that our company services. We would be forced to increase our costs. We own nearly 2K domains or more. That’s a significant potential increase In costs.
