I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Hi, I'm opposed to the price increases as outlined in the amendment 3. It seems the result could lead to a 70% wholesale price increase which is NOT OK. Dot COM domains have to be affordable for everyone. Also not really in favour of having a commercial company running these services for Icann. It seems these increases will cripple a lot of new .coms and stop the growth of the business which is needed to have strong economies. I for one am against these increases. It is hard enough to get started in this time and age with all the increase and regulations put forth by the so-called regulators and policy elites. I find the upcoming changes in the new deal between Verisign and ICANN is wrong. Important big decisions like this wich will affect millions of internet users should not be down to only two companies to decide. The internet consumers, both users and the industry as a whole should be listened to in big important deals like this. In many countries there are competion rules that wouldnt allow near monopolies like this being created. Please listen and respect the rest of us users and keep important deals like this transparent and open for inputs from all users of the net. We are one world. Lets work together and. Running a domain registry is like running a public utility - such a company should be able to make a steady profit but operates for the common, public interest. Verisign is clearly able to provide their services and still make a reasonable profit at the current price-per-domain. A 7% per year increase in domain pricing is not in the public interest and will only slow continued growth of the Internet and adversely affect smaller domain holders. A quick search of COLA values across US government and private sector reports shows anywhere from 1.5% to 2% (1.6% for social security), so any increase to the .com registry costs should be limited to no more than 2%. ________________________ Michael Sweet

In any way the ICANN decides to regulate the domain protocols, it should not be allowed the prices to be raised for any domain extension and must be normalized the prices so that resellers can keep also they prices low. Monopoly or exclusive control over domain protocol or extension to private agendas will only result in moving the opposite direction. Dear Sirs, I am against this proposed amendment As a small business owner, the prospect of a 7% a year price hike for each domain I own (and I own several) fills me with dread. It risks dissuading people from domain name purchases. In addition, I feel allowing Verisign to operate as a domain name registrar provides them with an unfair competitive advantage over existing registrars. Perhaps if Verisign is unable to operate efficiently enough to fund ICANN adequately, ICANN can bid out .com management in a manner than explicitly funds a $20m initiative? Or simply fund-raise, like other non-profits? Considering there are large internet infrastructures companies (CloudFront is an example) that are able to offer DNS services at-cost, I can see no legitimate justification for a price increase. The $20m kickback, a fraction of what Verisign stands to make, is reprehensible.
