Hello, I am a registrant of a .com domain name, which is not used in a manner that generates sufficient income to support excessive cost. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains, as I can only justify holding onto this domain if the price remains low. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. They are merely your manager of the .COM Registry – they has no business dictating the price. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. I object to the proposed price changes for .com domain registration. As a small business owner and consultant with approximately 50 domains registered, these increases are unfair and unwarranted. They do not represent any reflection of inflation-related economics and seem to be arbitrary. This is simply price gouging that winds up impacting small businesses like mine with little recourse. As a working student, fire volunteer, and local web developer, increasing the prices of domain names is another way for companies to ruin the opportunities for hard working individuals. I own 3 domains, both for personal and professional reasons. While owning these domains is relatively inexpensive, the increase in price will affect my yearly expenses. .com domains are the homes for many websites. By raising the price for them, websites will move away to newer domain extensions. This will make the internet suffer as a whole. With websites moving around it will be harder to find them.

Hello, This contract leaves open the door for significant increases in the cost of .COM domain ownership, something that is already prohibitive. If Verisign is willing to pay $20 million to be able to increase their prices, I can’t even imagine how much profit they’re projecting. This is clearly an attempt to increase profit margins from a service that is wholly monopolized and should be publicly funded and owned. Public funds researched, developed, and built the internet as we know it. This is an anti-competitive decision that undermines the accessibility to and affordability of the internet. Good evening, As a small entrepreneur and a mother I find this greatly off putting that prices to the name of my website could dramatically increase in the next ten years. We know in our day and age that websites are essential to survive in business, our names are hard enough to create and protect and .com offers a more global reach but we also often have to purchase additional domain extension names to protect a brand. It is costly and the loss of a name due to dramatic increase costs for a small business or a small family blog can be devastating after so much investment. I find that a projected 7% increase is dramatic and way above local inflation for many countries. 70% increase to the price over 10 years is outrageous, I don't mind a price increase, but this kind of price gouging is not okay. It is even worse considering that ICANN will only be receiving 20 million USD over 5 years, that is 4 million a year, that's nothing for the amount of money this increase will generate, it will only benefit VeriSign and no one else. 100% against this, please do not move forward with this.

If ICANN acts against the interests of the Internet community such way as it did, i am sure that ICANN reputation will be destroyed forever and the Internet community will begin to create alternatives, which will lead to chaos and fragmentation for a while. I demand an investigation into this apparently wrong decision, including, as reasons - possible corruption among ICANN leadership.

Hello, I am writing to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. Despite there clearly being potential financial gains to be had by raising the registration fee on .com domains, the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. While price hikes such as this likely won't mean much to the larger business concerns that buy in bulk, it will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. At worst, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good.
