I am a registrant of several .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. I am retired, and help small businesses get .com domain names and build small websites to help small operators get a website online. Prices have already gone up substantially and will soon out pace the ability of some small businesses to keep their websites. I have tried using some of the other cheaper priced domains such as .us and .monster and find they do not propagate across the www as they should. Perhaps that is because people with huge accounts and .com domains don't like someone using the same name with a .us or .monster domain and coerced their registrant or servers to slow down some ext. Or maybe create a new tld ext that will remain less expensive like .comm or .kom, yet they are not .com the main tld ext everybody types when they have no idea what they are looking for. 24 years ago in 1996 before ICANN and when a clear monopoly was forming, we needed iCANN. ICANN is now a loose cannon and the biggest risk to the digital asset class know as URL's. How many no bid contracts when pricing should be going down and security up. Open up the contract and see what happens? Why not, are the people making the money to scared or just in to much control they dont care? Its sad ICANN is supporting such price increases when they know opening it up will lower the prices and do it better. Oh ya, profits to Verisign and the big old white guys guys running the Gov back door contracts sponsoring Verisign. I am a registrant of a .com domain name since 1996, strongly against the proposed price increase to .COM domains, (Dont claim national security for increase as that is BS). Verisign has one of the highest margin business, why is iCANN supporting even more? Oh ya, we forgot ICANN is for the corporate company who funds them not the community as originally planned. Its just not right, then open the contract for bidding or give some of it back to the source that is providing it like Training, etc. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest, not Verisign bottom line or claim national security. Do what is right and hold Verisign Accountable to keeping margins still over 60% and still over a billion in pure profit.. I am opposed to the increase in price. In order to have a url, common sense dictates that you purchase the same url in all the categories - .com, .org,.net and ones with similar spelling. So it is easy for one website - commercial, charitable, educational - to have to have pay for 9 urls a year; at an average price of $38, that's $342. To whom it may concern, I would like to repeat many of the other concerns pointed out by my fellow Dotcom owners. I am concerned about this amendment to the Registry Agreement because it will affect, not just me, buy any individual who would like their own domain name. I am sure that no corporation will object to the 28% cost increase every six years as they earn money off their domain name and paying almost any amount would probably be acceptable to them. However, there are a great deal of small businesses that would see this as a burden as well as individual users (like me) out there that have purchased their own domain name and are using it for personal use, not commercial use. I understand that it would be almost impossible to create a regulation that would charge businesses more and individuals less, however, that may be what is required at this time. This would allow for businesses to have an individual register their domain name, however, no corporation of any size will be willing to leave their domain names in private hands. This would also allow fledgling businesses (aka startups) to keep their costs low at first. Remember, many businesses have been started in individual's garages. My domain has been used primarily for personal use. Please keep the annual fee very low or consider a more flexible charging system for the .COM top level domain that will keep it accessible to individuals and small businesses. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price.
