I'm writing in opposition to proposed amendment 3 for the following reasons:

1) Assigning Verisign the .COM registry is nothing more than a backdoor for them to monopolize the .COM domain registry business, which would be disastrous, given that the .COM TLD is the lifeblood of the Internet as we now know it.

2) Even with freezes after every two years, a 7% annual increase is unnecessarily inflationary at best and craven profiteering at worst.

3) The first two factors combine to create a chilling effect on commerce and expression.
