The internet is wonderful tool - in large part due to the fact that it has empowered almost anybody to afford to become a publisher. Domain prices play a vital role in this and .com is still the benchmark of trust in the internet.
In my opinion, raising .com prices would further contribute to the gentrification of the internet.
