As more and more people use .com, your costs should be going down. I would appreciate it if you would extend that discount to your customers.

You are not going to end up making more money, companies will start switching to other domains, and as it becomes more and more websites start using non-.com registries, people will become accustomed to not going to .com sites and that will snowball in to the use of many registries. Registries will become almost as varied as websites.
