To ICANN,

I protest in the strongest terms your decision to make significant changes to the contract you have with Verisign, Inc.

These changes will mean .com wholesale domain prices become less accessible and more expensive for everybody. .com domains make up 40% of all registered domain names online, so these changes will have a huge impact on a lot of people, including myself.

Alongside these contract changes, Verisign has agreed to pay you an additional $20 million dollars over five years to support your domain name system initiatives, without any clarity about how you will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure. This is unacceptable.

These changes will have significant impact on the Internet for years to come, and only ICANN and Verisign have participated in this decision. Internet users deserve to be consulted and their views taken into account in such matters.

Yours sincerely,

Kirsten Muir
