The current move to allow Verisign to increase wholesale prices to domain registrars every year for the next 8 years will  make it much harder for small businesses to keep domains registered. These prices will be passed on to the end users (customers of registrars) and over time, will make it economic only for the largest corporations to hold the worlds domains. Keeping domain registration fees modest, just like keeping the internet free and open, will ensure the world continues to have good access to innovation from small upstarts.
