the .com is pretty much a monopoly, and domains are now one of the key utilities of the internet - but I do not think its fair for business to absorb further price hikes when there is no alternative provider.

If you want the freedom to increase prices - we should have freedom to choose providers other than ICANN for the .com domains.

You cannot just force such a sweeping change on the internet.
