I am appalled that ICANN is even considering allowing this sale to go through. The damage to the reputation of the organization is back enough, but the total disregard for all the people who worked so hard to make the registry possible.
It’s a slap in the face to them and to the people who trusted your stewardship.
The dot com TLD is the backbone of the internet – and apparently ICANN thinks that the cost for it should be controlled by a for profit corporation. Not only is this poor judgement but since you’re making $20M off the deal – clearly you’re
not opposed to selling the internet to the highest bidder.
