[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Objection to new pricing agreement
Dear Sir or Madam, You are proposing an amendment to the pricing structure but fail to explain who aside from your own organization and Verisign would benefit. Domain owners will definitely be the ones who will pay this price increase without receiving a better product or service in exchange. That you are planning to grant Verisign the right to increase domain prices and getting in exchange a $20 million dollar injection, is establishing a co-dependency that is opposing the goals of the ICANN organization. People are happy to pay more if they know why they pay more. If you cannot deliver that answer in a transparent way then you are failing your community. Due to the raised concerns, I recommend to not amend the existing contract. ICANN is risking to lose any credibility and independence by trying to solve potential issues this way.
