[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] .com price increases

Domain names are a limited good created on top of a huge heap of public IP and network effects. ICANN has an effective monopoly over this good, and their fees are essentially rents (in the classic sense). Clearly, there is a lot of temptation to raise fees, and I'm sure there's a ton of rationalizations, but they're all bullshit. The cost of administering the system is close to $0 at the margin. ICANN is a steward. They should act like one and avoid the temptation of rationalizing price increases. -- *Zane Rockenbaugh, Security Officer* zane@moca.financial | Moca Financial, Inc. | 512 567 7625
