I am concerned for all of the small businesses that we support, be it through just domain registration or through full-service web development and hosting. It will not only affect the bottom line for these small businesses that already don’t have a lot to spend on web sites, but also raise prices across the board for companies such as Squarespace and Wix, who are there for the people who can’t do everything themselves. We have already been subjected to a 300% increase in hosting fees due to cPanel changes in the past year, which has had to be passed onto clients, but to add domain registration fee increases too may spell the end for a lot of SMB sites with no marketing budget. I urge you to re-assess the increases in costs and lower the percentage cap for each decade considerably in order to allow them to hopefully absorb the costs.
