[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Comment on Verisign price increase
Dear Sir or Madam, Since ICANN is intended to be a non-profit organization, ICANN's taking advantage of the .com price increase by Verisign is a breach of trust. Instead of creating competition between registrars, a quasi-monopoly is created here. So you have missed two of your core tasks. I hope that in this case you will follow your intention to accept public criticism "in a bottom up, consensus driven, democratic manner", in contrast to your previous decisions on .org, .info and .biz domains. ICANN can only play the role it is playing on the basis of general acceptance. If this acceptance is undermined, as by your actions above, the global community will have to find ways to participate more democratically without the ICANN organisation. Personally, I will first express my criticism to the German representative of the Governmental Advisory Committee of the and European Commission. Yours, Christian Sommer -- Christian Sommer, M.Sc.
