Dear ICANN, The idea that VeriSign could even consider raising prices reeks of corruption. The .com registry prices are already at least double what they would be if there was an open market. Even most registrars make less than $3 per domain, and they have to charge credit cards, maintain individual accounts, and provide customer service to end users. They also often include tools like URL forwarding. There is no way even the current $7.85 can be justified outside of a monopoly. Raising that further is out of the question. The discussion should be how much should VeriSign be forced to lower the price if they want to keep the contract.
