Doing so will damage a lot of internet users who want to make their own webpages. The prices of .com domains are ok as they are now. Lots of webpages with .com domains still have a very thin profit (sometimes no profit at all) and increasing the prices will affect not only the webmasters, but also the readers and users who will most probably see those pages and information gone from the Internet.
