[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Do not approve the proposed increase to .com registration fees.
As owner of multiple domains for my business, I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. It's far too high. No one other than Verisign wants increases in .COM prices. I would love to see a very clear explanation for how this increase is justified given they will not be providing additional services or benefits for the additional cost, and given their profits are high, which means a price increase is not necessary. I understand their may be a need for price adjustment over time, but I'm very interested to know how a 70% increase is being justified ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest, not in the interest of a single company that merely manages the registry. This price increase is anything but in the public interest. I suggest you put the service out to bid if Verisign insists on an increase this ridiculous. They should not be able to increase their profits at the expense of the public just because no other service is allowed to compete.
