[Comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20] Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement
I am a registrant of several .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign should not hold a monopoly on managing .com domain names. In fact, monopolies are illegal most places. Why do you allow them to get away with this? The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. In fact, it should be much cheaper. Verisign should not be making 300% + profits from this monopoly. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Not for the benefit of one company's shareholders. Prices should be lowered, not raised, on .com domains and other TLDs. The prices are already far too high and there's no justification to raise them further. Brad Shaw Costa del Sol, Spain
