The middle class is poorer every year, and purchasing a domain name to enter the internet market place is one of the diminishing resources which allows people the opportunity to dig themselves out of economic woe. Must this opportunity for people to improve their situation be moved further out of reach so that big money can get a little more money? Is it really necessary to use big money to leverage even more wealth for big money at the expense of opportunity for the little guy? How bad do Verisign and ICANN really need this money? Perhaps Verisign and ICANN could just get by with the money they have and decide not to take opportunity from our shrinking middle class.
