Costs go up over time and revenues must rise to cover them or a business will go under. But most businesses have to deal with an open market and make the pricing decisions based on what the market will bear. With this amendment, ICANN effectively wields its monopoly power to demand more money with no opportunity for the market to respond. This is an unfair practice and must be stopped. If ICANN needs to raise revenues, let them deal with their customers in an open an fair fashion rather than simply demanding the price they want.
