ICANN should be governing the domain name system in the public best interest - and allowing Verisign to dictate the price does not achieve that goal at all. Verisign seems to be the only one who wants this price increase - and their justification for why is vague at best and downright shadowy at worst. Please either prepare a more transparent proposal for why this cost increase is necessary, or keep the prices where they are or cheaper
