I am a .info registrant (non-profit). I've read about a lot of bad decisions under the UDRP. The URS seems even worse. I heard the URS is very new and is being reviewed now to see if it is working properly. It is too soon to include an untested policy on .info domains where for a few hundred dollars anyone could try to shut down someone else's website. Telling the .info registry that it can charge any price it wants for renewing a domain name is a terrible idea. Why would you allow them to set a crazy high price? They could try to force the domain owners to pay a very high price each year to renew their domain name, and if the domain owner either won't or can't, then the .info registry could take away their domain name, set a high registration price on it, and then try to find someone else who is willing to pay a high price for it. This is very unfair to long time .info domain owners who may see their prices raised sky high for no reason. You let the new domain extensions charge any price they want, but that hasn't gone so well. Lots of people got burned when the new registries offered low rates for the first year, and then after people registered the domain names and some built web sites on them, some of the prices were raised through the roof. .info has been working just fine for years where the prices maybe go up a little bit each year. Allowing huge price increases from one year to the next could ruin .info for everybody. I think you should pay a little more attention to what is good for the owners of .info domain names. The registries are doing fine. They don't need your help as they are already making plenty of money.

I am a .info domain registrant. I oppose the proposed new removal of price caps for .info domain names. Domain names are indeed a small amount to pay for a website, but why should the end user have to pay extra for something that will have no added value added to it. As a largely automated process, the price increase will do nothing more than line the pockets of large corporations. UKDomains.

To ICANN staff responsible for this action: By allowing unlimited price hikes for .org, .info and .biz legacy TLDs, you are essentially putting non-profits and small businesses at the mercy of a monopoly, possibly crushing whole segments of the online (and offline) economy all over the world. If ICANN is truly a "public-benefit corporation" please consider the potentially devastating harm that would come to millions of people with legitimate organizations operating under these TLDs by letting a cartel enrich itself at the expense of "the little guy" and how it would affect "One World, One Internet", as your motto goes... I do not want the .info pricing to be allowed to increase by removing the current cap. The .info domain allows a small group of people, even just 1 person, to get provide free information to the public. This domain should actually be cheaper than .com, and having it be low-cost would encourage people to use it. Please consider this reason sincerely and do not remove the cap. Sincerely, Dean Jackson

There is no reason to remove the 10% cap on .info domains. These domains are often used by small organizations, and their funds are limited, and better used elsewhere. My domain, r90s.info, is just a hobby project that I run for the good of the community. Please do not remove the 10% cap on .info price increases. I am a .org and .info registrant This happened in gas and electric prices in my country (UK) and the populace went nuts and it was eventually reverted. I don't know much about what is going on. However I do know from past experience that removal of price caps is never a good thing, no matter what you dress it up as. It still stinks and is a very crappy way of doing business. PLEASE take this into careful consideration before you do anything. This will have a HUGE impact not only small businesses but also non-profit businesses as well. DO NOT do this.
