Our freedoms are under attach constantly in the world today. The internet is one of the few places where anyone can go to cheaply and effectively communicate opinions, uplift people in need, and create lasting change. By raising prices on these domains, it makes it that much harder for people to express themselves. It says “this is a freedom you can enjoy, as long as you can afford 100% increase.” This serves only to continue segmenting freedoms, putting them only in the hands of those who can afford them. I am very concerned with the proposed change to remove price caps on .info domains. Low costs are part of what keeps the internet a place of freedom. Allowing resellers to charge much higher prices will destroy the free and open internet as we know it and possibly cause many of our non-profits and small businesses to have to change their names and domain names just because of unreasonable costs. - Adam Bowers

I am writing to express my strong objection to the removal of the price cap on .info domain fees. I know that ICANN has had an advisory committee reviewing the plan and that they have expressed very strong concerns about it as well. The fact that ICANN is ignoring the advisory committee's concerns, as well as disregarding significant consumer protection issues with the plan is not only concerning but also alarming given your role. I urge you to take into consideration the concerns and objections of the advisory committee and others and keep a price cap in place to protect consumers from potentially extreme rate hikes now or in the future. The boundaries of indented domain usage and their usage in practice are very blurred, take .tv as an example. I am a domain name registrant and a small business owner. I own several .INFO domain names that I use for my non-profit IT based business. As such, I am very much opposed to removing the yearly price increase cap. Removing the cap would create unneeded financial stress for small businesses and create an unneeded barrier to entry to retain or acquire something that does not physically exist anywhere. Additionally, removing the cap serves no purpose other than to generate revenue as it does not increase quality, security, availability, or trust. Given this list; do not remove the cap.

Google is trying to take over the internet with their own domains and trying to get rid of domain names. This price cap removal will give more power to google and force these organizations into googles plan to take over the web. You will not see any more business by removing the cap as google will roll this plan out sooner and they will all move to that model. Please do not remove these caps!
