I am completely opposed to the plan of removing the pricing caps. It is only good the for isps/registrars. there is no much work related for the isp to keep up a domain.if teh fees will rise to much peopel will loo out for alternatives. and regarding to tcpip. other registarts could rise and dont follow icann. it could lead to a split of dns. we need to keep against the trrend of the internet as it was designed ages ago. we alreday face a split america and eu due to the new copyright laws. people will do their own internet independant from icann etc or create their own dark web/internet

I am a domain name registrant. Legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs and should be treated that way. Legacy TLDs are what the internet was built on. They are essentially a public trust. They are very different than new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by private parties. Registrants of these legacy extensions should be entitled to price predictability & stability. Advancements in technology should be driving the cost of operating a registry down, yet prices keep going up? Removing price caps is unfair to the millions of domain registrants. They will have no price protections. Every registrant will be at the complete mercy and whims of the registry. This could result in a transfer of funds from millions of non-profits to one non-profit, with no benefits to the domain registrants. ICANN is supposed to represent a "bottom up, consensus-driven multistakeholder model". ICANN should not unilaterally impose URS in legacy TLDs when that issue is precisely what is being examined by the volunteer ICANN Working Group who has been mandated to review this issue. ICANN should be looking out for registrants, in particular the non-profits. There is no "public benefit" justification to these changes. It is just a handout to business at the expense of registrants’ rights and protections. Where are the protections for the millions of domain registrants that this could effect in a negative way? These changes would give way too much power to the registry. This is not acceptable for a "public benefit" organization that exists to represent many stakeholders. John Romine

Please DO NOT implement this proposed change to the .info registry agreement. You are going to make prices skyrocket and stifle innovation. People use the .info for everything and this will cause personal website, businesses and everyone to get to a point where you must get financial backing just to create your own domain. Good day, The Internet grew out of a common goal to have a space for the world to connect and communicate. Being able to build a space on the Internet shouldn’t only be accessible to the wealthy. Removing the price caps encourages and ensures that the cost for creating a space and registering a .info domain will become unaffordable for much of the Internet community. You have a duty to the community first. Please be responsible and restore low price increase caps for .info registrations to keep registration costs affordable. Respectfully, Matthew Lutze

Because a registry has a monopoly on a particular name, a user who has registered that name cannot rely on competition to keep prices in check. This is a clear case where regulation is necessary to protect the people from undesirable rent-seeking behaviour. A regulator that decides to remove price controls despite being extremely aware of the lack of competition must be regarded as negligent and hostile to an accessible Internet. Why is it reasonable to potentially impose a 1000% price increase on registrants? For the removal of price controls to not be absurd, there must first be relevant competition between registries. Until that is reality, you need to agree with the community and reject your proposal. Thank you, Anonymous

It is incomphrensibly immoral to give a corporation the opportunity to buy these legacy TLDs out from the internet as a whole. There is too much corporate welfare as it is, stop selling out and do the right thing!
