Dear ICANN, As an owner of a few INFO domains, I see myself affected by the proposal to remove the price cap and liberalise the market. This measure is clearly in favour of big business where the small owners like myself would be big losers. The domains I own are not, and will not be used for business purposes–that is, they are not intended to generate any profit. I pay for them out my own pocket from my day-to-day labour activity. Removing the price cap would kill those domains unable to keep up with the prices that the market might impose and would definitely impair Internet as we know it since it would remove a layer of users and sites which strive to provide common good free of charge. I have heard that ICANN is proposing removing the caps on .info domain names. This could be very damaging for a fair and open web, stifling innovation from smaller players and only benefitting large organisations who can afford to pay the higher fees. Please do not remove the price cap!

Please do not allow an open-ended price increases for top level domains! The chilling and stultifying effects for the health of the internet business community, not to mention all the unknown and unintended consequences, will be widespread and devastating. The internet is a vibrant and diverse community: raising the barrier to entry for these top-level domains will give significant and unfair advantage to entities with a bunch of money, and keep those most important informational, countercultural, artistic, progressive, creative and activist voices from expression through our only truly egalitarian medium: the internet. As a small business owner who depends on the internet for the whole of my livelihood and that of my employees, raising the prices of top level domains would be disastrous for my company and my clients’ businesses. Keep domain registry prices down where they belong: affordable for every individual. It’s against the spirit and intention of a free and open internet to raise financial barriers to entry beyond the means of every individual who has something to say or sell. Now is your chance to protect the internet for now and the future; please don’t squander it. Allow no more than a 10% increase in top-level domain prices per year! I am against the proposal to allow the PIR to set any price increases it wants. These are names. Their cost is 0. If the goal is to make it harder for people to squat names, propose a different way. This hurts the little guy

I maintain several .info websites.?? There is one for my son, featuring his baby photos and stories I wish to share as well as news for my friends about his career and his life.?? I hope to someday pass it on to him if he wants it. I also maintain .info sites for others I care about and a few issues I care about. I am retired and on a fixed income, but fighting cancer so my cost to stay alive is already an issue. Please don't allow unlimited price increases.?? it will cost me something that adds a lot to the value of my life. -James D Burns

Please do not remove the cap on pricing of domain names. It will severely cripple in my opinion competition of those who do eCommerce. It also could possibly set up monopolies from people or organizations to hold domains hostage from their respective owners forcing them to either change their domain or pay the exorbitant cost. -- Jasmine Windom

I am strongly opposed to the removal of price caps on long established domains. The expectations involved in the price have a long precedent with consumers, with this being a strong consideration in initial choice of gTLD. A complete price cap removal does not promote the health of the internet
