Dear ICANN, Please do not remove the price cap for ".org” domains. Our organization is a non-profit free volunteer medical clinic for underserved people in the Tennessee mountains. Every dollar in our budget is precious. Our website is important to us for maintaining contact with our donor base and for soliciting operating funds. I cant find any justification or reasoning behind the proposal to uncap registry fees. Without such material, how can interested parties make comments that are relevant to the proposal? "ICANN is a not-for-profit public-benefit corporation with participants from all over the world dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable." I do not understand how ICANN can achieve the above while allowing unrestrained price increases on millions of domain names, I am objecting the proposal of removing the price cap provisions in the current .info agreement. Instead, ICANN should actively seeking new providers who can lower the cost of the .info domain names and award the agreement to a winning bidder, for the public's benefit. An open, fair and competitive process should be taken to procure the .info domain name operator before renewing any agreement.

Dear ICANN, The removal of the price cap provisions on the .info gTLD is an egregious error. The only reasoning given is that it allows the Registry Operators to make more money, treating them equitably with newer gTLDs. Given that operating costs for gTLDs have gone down over time, and that there is nothing restricting an entity registering .org domains from also registering new gTLDs, this makes no sense. If anything the 10% per year price increase should be removed, and a permanent cap set, or one tied to global inflation. 10% is more than enough. The only people who will benefit are stakeholders in companies, while the people who actually create the internet that ICANN is a steward of will be hurt. It is a breach of trust and a failure of duty to do so. It also makes one wonder who ICANN is truly trying to help, and weakens the position that they should ever have been given control. As a info domain holder, I would like to see the cap remain. Limiting price increases provides long term stability to the market and to the domain name system itself. I do agree that the cap should be set above expected inflation levels. At 10% per year, 5-8% above inflation, the registrar can still increase rates significantly over time to respond to market changes.

At its best, the internet can still provide the medium for individuals and small groups of people to turn unique ideas into successful businesses. Unlimited domain registration fee increases are bad for business, will stifle innovation, and will only serve the interests of a few giant corporations. Say no to unlimited fee increases.

Allowing an uncapped increase in domain price will have the effect of lowering shared human knowledge. People will not renew urls or not even buy in the first place because they can not plan for future costs. Please keep the 10% annual cap. Sent from my Huawei Mobile

I would encourage ICANN to reconsider allowing unlimited fee increases for .INFO domains. .INFO domains are regularly used by individuals and organizations for non-profit purposes to provide (shock! horror!) "information" to the general public about a person, product, place, thing, or service. It costs next to nothing to maintain the registration for a domain since registrations are simply records in a database. Unlimited fee increases are nothing more than a cash-grab for an industry with high margins and low expenses and for an industry that increasingly provides no added value other than simply "existing". I remember the days when registering a domain required filling out a template and Emailing Network Solutions, then mailing in a check for $70 ($35 per year, minimum of 2 years) and I welcomed the industry changes that brought automation that ultimately lowered the costs for everybody.
