I’m opposed to plans to allow unrestricted increases for domain names. These services are already set up and are profitable for the companies who manage these accounts. To allow them to hold current customers hostage to their rate demands would be extremely unfair to current customers and create unnecessary business interruptions if changing to another domain is required due to being held hostage to unnecessary rare increases! I am very concerned that with the new laws/agreements in place, the price caps on domain names will be removed, thus giving you the opportunity to charge abusive prices for renewal. Whatever your plans for hte future, I, and millions of others, bought domains on an assumption of a more or less constant price annually. Please do NOT abuse of this. Rather than a 10% increase to renew your domain next year, PIR could suddenly start charging registrars like 100 times as much. In turn, registrars would have no choice but to pass these charges on to customers. Without any limitation on price increases, PIR would have unfettered ability to extort current domain holders without repercussion.

I am against any removal of current price caps. I could find no viable reason for removing the caps. Looking in from outside, it appears to simply be greed driven. Please live up to the words of your vision, "one world, one Internet".

To whom it may concern, I would like to record my dissatisfaction with Section 2.10 of the .info renewal agreement. Removing a price increase limit seems unnecessary to me. Until the registry operator can prove that nearly all money gained from previous price increases went directly into maintenance, or improving the registry service, I do not think it is wise to remove price increase caps. The previous price cap seems reasonable enough, given the average U.S. inflation rate hovers around 2-3%. Douglas Deslauriers Software Engineer

Allowing a monopoly freedom to set prices is a guarantee that prices will increase dramatically. The only way to prevent this is to put constraints on the monopoly. Please maintain the annual price increase ceiling. Steve 989-415-1563

I am the IT Manager of a public library, and we use the .info domain for our primary internet presence. Many other libraries and public organizations do as well. Please keep limits on the wholesale price of the .info domain. Unlike other, more commercial TLDs, the .info domain should remain affordable for the use of public organizations working for the common good.

I have been a ".info" user for many years (wagstaff.info) and this domain is continues to be crucial to my small business. The potential for dramatic price increases form this domain name threatens my use of the name - and could unfairly force me to relinquish the domain to larger, wealthier organization with an interest in taking it over. Please continue to support small, independent business owners by keeping domain costs fixed at affordable prices. Thank you, Sean Wagstaff.
