Hello, I am writing this comment to request that you RETAIN the cap on pricing increases for registering and or renewing .ORG domains. Removing this limit would harm and undercut the Internet as a innovation hub, harming non-profits and startups that are under-financed. What makes the Internet so fantastic for entreprenuership, business, and innovation is its low cost to entry. With Net Neutrality under attack this raising of prices compounds the issue and is part of the problem in the direction the Internet is heading. The current pricing structure does not prevent increases, it only ensures that it does not exceed a reasonable amount! Henry

I am a registrant of both .com and .org domains. ICANN should retain price caps on on all .org, .info, and .biz top level domains. Removing caps would significantly increase wholesale prices and contribute to price creep across the board. This is unfair for organizations that are out here serving the public good. This is wrong and inconsistent with ICANN’s mission. ICANN policy making is supposed to be a ‘bottom up, multi-stakeholder model’. I believe that legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs. Legacy TLDs are essentially a public trust, unlike new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by private interests. Registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and predictability, and should not be subject to price increases with no maximums. Unlike new gTLDs, registrants of legacy TLDs registered their names and made their online presence on legacy TLDs on the basis that price caps would continue to exist. Unrestrained price increases on the millions of .org registrants who are not-for-profits or non-profits would be unfair to them. Unchecked price increases have the potential to result in hundreds of millions of dollars being transferred from these organizations to one non-profit, the Internet Society, with .org registrants receiving no benefit in return. ICANN should not allow one non-profit nearly unlimited access to the funds of other non-profits. ICANN appears to be entirely catering to registries by removing price caps. ICANN should stand up for the public interest and registrants! Regards, Hilary Bryan

As a small business owner I am against the price cap changes proposed. The price cap increases that are allowed are already much higher than the average rate of inflation and there is no reason I can see to remove or change this pricing cap. Further more small business like me may not be able to afford the increased prices and at this time there have been a great many new barriers to the ability of new internet companies to succeed adding these increases to the costs of startups will further hurt small and startup businesses and decrease innovation. This will be particularly damaging to non-profits and bloggers who already have a great deal of trouble with their limited budgets. This proposal will damage the diversity and inclusivity of the internet particularly in regard to those in smaller more niche areas where the internet is most important for innovation and allowing those that are often forgotten to be heard.

Dear Sirs/Mesdames: Any change to the pricing structure for domains would place anyone seeking to communicate via web site or do business by same at the extortionate mercy of the registrar. Dear Sir or Madam, These proposals seem based on nothing but pure greed. Why should I bother trying to perform a public service through my websites, for free, for a range of people who are war veterans, family of such veterans, historians and other interested parties at growing cost just to line the already well-lined pockets of a few whose greed cannot be satiated? Multi nationals are a small well-heeled part of those using the service who can pay but there must be millions of one person outfits who are doing something useful who cannot.
