Please don't remove the price cap on .org domains in your agreement with PIR. .org domains are overwhelmingly used by registered charities and nonprofit organizations. Reducing (or holding relatively steady) the amount that everyone who uses that domain type spends is effectively a donation to almost every nonprofit who has a presence online. In one feel swoop you can benefit millions of families being lifted out of poverty, children seeking healthcare, even entire species facing extinction. Or you can take the money that would have been spent on those causes and make all of those organizations spend it on their domain names every year. Even if the individual organization's change in budget isn't huge, the cumulative effect on all these organizations would be massive.

Please limit the amount that PIR can charge registrars for .org domains. I understand that small price increases are needed for raises in cost of business, but extreme cost increases will negatively impact non-profits like ours when the additional cost is passed down to us through our registrars. Hello, to whom this concerns, Please help non-profits keep overhead expenses low by not increasing the cost of .org domain addresses. As we increasingly move into digital space to do our organizing, we have little choice but to purchase web hosting and storage services, which add to our overhead expenses. To whom it may concern: I am a .org registrant and a not-for-profit or non-profit organization. ICANN does not seem to recognize the difference between a legacy extension created with the support of the US government, that predates the existence of ICANN and that has millions of existing users and the brand new extensions that started off with a new set of rules, in particular no price controls, and no existing registrants. They have completely different characteristics, history, and ownership structure. It is not acceptable for ICANN to ignore these differences and to propose that they be treated the same. Removing price caps is not fair to .org domain owners. Many of them have websites that they have used for years. If price caps are removed, the cost to renew their domain names may become too expensive, and they could be forced to give up websites that are important to them. The Uniform Rapid Suspension policy is too new and untested to apply on domain names that may be 20 years old or more. With the URS, the domain names could be taken down in a matter of days with little notice. ICANN should be doing more to protect owners of .org domain names. Why is ICANN trying to remove price protections for .org domain owners, so many of which are non-profits, so that they can be overcharged for their domain names? Sent from my iPhone

Keep the price increase restriction in place. The PIR has monopoly power for its domains. Allowing even the existing 10% increase is pushing the boundary of what is acceptable, and allowing them to charge whatever they want is way over the line.

You will be locking out a large userbase of the internet especially those in developing countries like Jamaica in which $15 is about $2,250.00 JMD. A bigger increase will leave many persons unable to sustain their domain name ownership.

Hello, It is egregious that the domain names and services have been steadily increasing over the years and now without proper restraint or regulation. This will make is prohibitive for smaller businesses and entrepreneurs to enter the Fields of their choice. Also, the manner in which these fees are charged are not as transparent as they need to be. This should be regulated fee and not subject to any increase, ever. A flat fee into perpetuity. Also, to hold domain names for fee is out of control too. If a name is locked up with a broker And they are auctioning it for a ridiculous fee,… this creates an environment of inequality. Make this a fair and equal playing ground… Not one, sigh, that once again only benefits the wealthy. Do something important and right for the progress of our economies. Please do not allow un-capped pricing increases on .org domains. Many of my customers are non-profits, and they will not be able to afford random price increases. This not only affects them, but all of us who support them. I urge you to keep prices low, controlled, and limited. Thank you, Bruce Bergman hostmaster(a)fatcity.com
