To whomsoever it may concern, I am a .org registrant. Unrestrained price increases on the millions of .org registrants who are not-for-profits or non-profits is completely unfair. Unchecked price increases have the potential to result in hundreds of millions of dollars being transferred from these organizations to one non-profit, the Internet Society, with .org registrants receiving no benefit in return. ICANN should not allow one non-profit nearly unlimited access to the funds of other non-profits. Also please do not publish my email id publicly anywhere. Thanks!

I believe that lifting the caps for the renewal of .org domain names will result in excessive cost increases which will adversely affect this no-profit organizations that specialize in using these domain names. This will be particularly acute for those small organizations that don’t have a lot of financial resources to defend and / or keep the name going. The free market works reasonably well, however it can also be very cut-throat. I urge you to protect the .org domain names to truly reflect organizations that are not so commercially minded as those using the .com domain names. Mike Willis

Hi .Org domain are generally uused my non-pofits, intreset groups, etc. maily for non-comercial purposes. We do you want to remove the cap and create a potential for a "Bill shock" for such orrganizations? Yogi

Please DO NOT allow the Public Interest Registry to set their own pricing. A maximum increase of 10% per year as per the current agreement is more than ample – in fact is probably already too high – so I do not feel any change needs to be made. Price increase would be warranted if there was a consolidated effort to increase additional registrars; however in light of the fact there are NO other alternative registry for the .org TLD; this type of increase is absolutely unwarranted.. There are millions or .org registrants that have been left out in the cold because of the archanie ICANN regulations on how domains are registered or squatted. ICANN has wholeheartedly engaged in a would can only be classified as an extortion schema whereby you are now beholding to legitimate registries a sum of money; that is not, could not nor should ever be unchecked. I would purpose those registrants be allocated a single vote and that each vote be cast as a legitimate member of said registry, thus participating in a cooperative where its members share the costs among its membership... The registry should be a NON-PROFIT and accountable to its members; not a group of monopolistic autocracy. I absolutely DO NOT support such a draconian rate increase that is not justifiable among its members... There is a term for this; monopoly... Allow other registries and other corporate stakeholders to share the responsibility... .org is mostly used by non-profit organizations, which would be the first to be penalize by the new tariffs. Please do not change the current rules of .org!

I've read about a lot of bad decisions under the UDRP. The URS seems even worse. I heard the URS is very new and is being reviewed now to see if it is working properly. It is too soon to include an untested policy on .org domains where for a few hundred dollars anyone could try to shut down someone else's website. Telling the .org registry that it can charge any price it wants for renewing a domain name is a terrible idea. Why would you allow them to set a crazy high price? They could try to force the domain owners to pay a very high price each year to renew their domain name, and if the domain owner either won't or can't, then the .org registry could take away their domain name, set a high registration price on it, and then try to find someone else who is willing to pay a high price for it. This is very unfair to long time .org domain owners who may see their prices raised sky high for no reason. You let the new domain extensions charge any price they want, but that hasn't gone so well. Lots of people got burned when the new registries offered low rates for the first year, and then after people registered the domain names and some built web sites on them, some of the prices were raised through the roof. .Org has been working just fine for decades where the prices maybe go up a little bit each year. Allowing huge price increases from one year to the next could ruin .org for everybody. I think you should pay a little more attention to what is good for the owners of .org domain names. The registries are doing fine. They don't need your help as they are already making plenty of money.

Removal of pricing restrictions on a TLD as old as .org is a HUGE disservice to the Internet community as a whole. The continued trend of shared, important resources given to ICANN in trust to administer being continually modified to improve the bottom line of specific, individual companies is nothing short of a disgrace. That ICANN would consider removing ALL price controls to what is basically a monopoly domain with a long standing trend will surely result in less clarity of the purpose the TLDs in the first place. Several private TLDs with no price controls already charge 5 -10 TIMES as much for a single years registration. Continuing with these proposed changes is nothing short of betraying the trust placed in ICANN. Please do not implement these changes as currently written. Sincerely, Ronald Peterson
