It is unacceptable to remove the price cap for .org domains, opening them to the same price abuse seen in other TLDs. There is no genuine market force pushing domain prices up other than greed. The notion that the market for domains is 'mature' is not supportable given the total cost of migrating domains from provider to provider and the limited number of durable providers. In addition, .org domains are generally held by non-profits and other holders of limited means. If you want to float the price of boutique TLDs, fine. Leave .orgs alone! Paul Baim

Hello, Dropping the the price cap provisions in the current .org agreement, which limited the price of registrations and allowable price increases for registrations may result in unrestrained hike in prices. Folks who are already vested with, and own .org domains - (especially non profits, and private individuals) - will be now be in a very precarious position. Furthermore, it appears that there are proposals for similar changes in other domains. This will have a ripple effect where prices across all domain names will increase. The internet stands for freedom and the proposal to drop price caps will restrict people from owning domains and being able to participate at an equal level. I'd request ICANN to kindly reconsider this (and other similar) proposal(s). Cheers! Shishir

short simple sweet, .orgs do not have that kind of money that will happen if you allow unlimted price increase, thus you hurt the good that those domains can do please do not allow this to happen Thank you Jennifer

Hi Interweb Brothers and Sisters, Removing the cap for price increase doesn't make sense to me. I don't see the added value with that idea. Let's keep the cap for the price increase.

This is unacceptable, and should not be adopted. A cap of 10% increase is reasonable, the only reason to remove it is so that unreasonable increases can be made. Dear Sir/ Madam I am a director of a company which is a .org registrant and a not-for-profit or non-profit organization. ICANN staff should not unilaterally impose URS in legacy TLDs when that issue is precisely what is being examined by the volunteer ICANN Working Group who has been mandated to review this issue. ICANN policy making is supposed to be a ‘bottom up, multi-stakeholder model’. I believe that legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs. Legacy TLDs are essentially a public trust, unlike new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by private interests. Registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and predictability, and should not be subject to price increases with no maximums. Unlike new gTLDs, registrants of legacy TLDs registered their names and made their online presence on legacy TLDs on the basis that price caps would continue to exist. Unrestrained price increases on the millions of .org registrants who are not-for-profits or non-profits would be unfair to them. Unchecked price increases have the potential to result in hundreds of millions of dollars being transferred from these organizations to one non-profit, the Internet Society, with .org registrants receiving no benefit in return. ICANN should not allow one non-profit nearly unlimited access to the funds of other non-profits. ICANN appears to be entirely catering to registries by removing price caps. I am a .org registrant. I believe that legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs. Legacy TLDs are essentially a public trust, unlike new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by private interests. Registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and predictability, and should not be subject to price increases with no maximums. Unlike new gTLDs, registrants of legacy TLDs registered their names and made their online presence on legacy TLDs on the basis that price caps would continue to exist. Unrestrained price increases on the millions of .org registrants who are not-for-profits or non-profits would be unfair to them.
