Hi, It is shame that you are playing in the hands of capitalist. Many of .org domains are providing valuable information and doing ton of great work at no cost. Increase in price means they have to arrange money which means they are going to charge it from consumers, that means your new policy is a straight loss for consumers. Me and my friends are against it. And we will do whatever it takes to stop your greedy ass from spoiling .org

I am writing as the registrant of several not-for-profit dot-org domains to oppose the incorporation of the URS into the .org renewal agreement. I fundamentally disagree with ICANN's argument that legacy gTLDs including .org should be treated in the same way as new gTLDs. More importantly, most .org domains are operated by not-for-profit organisations, including many charities, which have limited budgets, and cannot absorb large price rises in .org domain renewal costs by passing them on to customers, because they have no customers. To Whom Ot May Concern, I strongly ask that the cost you charge per Domain name not be increased, especially for the .org ending ones. I work with small farmers in different parts of Asia and the world. I am barely making ends meet with the expenses of my work. An increase in cost for the vital use of my website will have an impact on my ability to continue this work. Dear Sirs I would like to register my disapproval of the proposed amendments to Section 2.10 of the .org Registry agreement. I think it is a bad decision to remove the cap, although the proposal is to bring it in line with other industry standards, companies could use this clause to charge unreasonable rates and consumers would be penalised. I am emailing to express my concern about the removal of price caps on .org domain names. I urge you to consider the negative impact on the health of non-profit organizations if uncontrolled pricing is allowed. Domain names are a first step in an organization's ability to access the public. Uncontrolled pricing, especially for non-profits, would siphon resources away from their ability to serve the public by placing an unfair burden on their already limited funding. I write to you because the proposed lifting of price caps on org domains would be potentially disruptive and expensive for people maintaining non-commercial websites. As a scientist, maintaining a website with information on specialized technology and scientific data is of great value to me, my research group, and other research groups in the field. Because my primary job is teaching and research, not developing websites, I maintain such a website privately and was happy with the minimal cost and hassle associated with running an org domain. Disruptions from such a fundamental rule change would possibly steal a great deal of my time and the same is surely true for many others that run similar domains. The proposed removal of the price cap is likely to disadvantage many small charitable organisations (for example our local church website) - who chose .org as an indication that they were non-profit and were purchased in good faith. I therefore think this is a bad idea and will inevitably lead to their exploitation on renewal as it is highly unlikely that prices will go down. regards M gahagan

I am a .org registrant. ICANN staff should not unilaterally impose URS in legacy TLDs when that issue is precisely what is being examined by the volunteer ICANN Working Group who has been mandated to review this issue. ICANN policy making is supposed to be a ‘bottom up, multi-stakeholder model’. I believe that legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs. Legacy TLDs are essentially a public trust, unlike new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by private interests. Registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and predictability, and should not be subject to price increases with no maximums. Unlike new gTLDs, registrants of legacy TLDs registered their names and made their online presence on legacy TLDs on the basis that price caps would continue to exist. Unrestrained price increases on the millions of .org registrants who are not-for-profits or non-profits would be unfair to them. Unchecked price increases have the potential to result in hundreds of millions of dollars being transferred from these organizations to one non-profit, the Internet Society, with .org registrants receiving no benefit in return. ICANN should not allow one non-profit nearly unlimited access to the funds of other non-profits. ICANN appears to be entirely catering to registries by removing price caps. ICANN should stand up for the public interest and registrants!
