There is no reason to remove the limit on price increases on year-over-year for the domain names. The companies are already making more than enough money as is with their current costs. It costs them next to nothing to run the domain when you take them from their overall fees that the root registry charges. These fees should be predictable not insane which could cause massive disruption across the marketplace as small business owners scramble in an attempt to keep their business from going under and deciding if they really want to keep their current TLD as its costs become far too high.
