I write to oppose the removal of price caps on any of the “legacy” TLDs as doing so will only create a free-for-all on limitless price increases across the well-established board.

 The new GTLDs are already accepted as alternative options with price expectations that vary greatly based on the registry;
 however, current registrants of older well established extensions are expected to maintain some level of stability.

 SO, I am extremely (and particuly) disappointed to think you could even consider increasing the cost of the .org domain.

 In Australia those domain users are not-for-profits or charities, and as such, they cannot afford prices increases, with many struggling to even survive or serve their clients.

 It is disturbing to read elsewhere (comments pages), so many of the group who would seem to benefit from the change people ( is it PIR ? ) are / or where, on management of ICANN.

 I insist they all abstain from any involvement in this matter: either in the preparation of any reports, recommendations and/or other items for consideration in this matter.

 AND especially in any decision making process.

 In other jurisdictions, their involvement in those matters could result in close scrutiny and in the commercial world, possible charges over conflict of interest.

 ---------------------------

 The Uniform Rapid Suspension policy is untested and should not apply on domain names that may be 20 years old or more and
 especially as many of these groups who will have trouble responding ( many run by elderly volunteers ) - and thus taken down in of days with little notice.

 ICANN should be doing more to protect owners of .org domain names.
 The removal of these price protections for .org domains, will result in their being overcharged for their domain names...

 .ORG is there to serve the world, not to make profits!
