Dear Councilors,

During our August meeting we noted the open public comment on ICANN’s Strategic Plan and Operating Plan Framework for FY26-30. We called attention to Strategic Goal 1.2: Enhance the Agility and Effectiveness of Policy and Advice Development which directly relates to GNSO Council work. Council Leadership is concerned that this this goal’s designation of “Strategic Intensity, Heightened Attention” will result in that goal becoming a large-scale project, which may draw attention away from the work that the Council has already agreed to undertake, much of which will initiate prior to the next 5-year plan even coming into effect.

Council Leadership drafted a short comment recommending that the designation of Moderate Attention might be more appropriate for this goal. Please review. We will discuss in our September meeting.
