NEW: Guidelines for Developing New Courses on ICANN Learn
From: Sally Costerton, Senior Advisor to President & Senior Vice President Global
Stakeholder Engagement
ICANN has recently published guidelines for developing new courses on ICANN Learn. Capacity development is a significant way to enhance engagement with the policy
development work that takes place in the ICANN community, and ICANN Learn is a particularly effective platform for this during a time when fact-to-face training is not possible. We have provided high-level guidelines that we hope will help the community determine
when and how to make requests for the development of online courses for the ICANN Learn e-learning platform. Each request that complies with these guidelines will be considered alongside existing workflows, timelines, and overall objectives for ICANN Learn.

NEW: The Importance of ITHI to You, and How to Participate
From:
Gabriella Schittek, Global Stakeholder Engagement Senior Manager – Nordic & Central Europe; and Alain Durand, Principal Technologist
One way ICANN fulfills its mission of ensuring the stable and secure operation of the Internet's unique identifier systems is by monitoring and collecting Domain Name
System (DNS) related data. For this purpose, ICANN has launched a number of data-collecting initiatives, of which the
Domain
Abuse Activity Reporting (DAAR) [r20.rs6.net]
project is perhaps the best known; and is proving helpful when pursuing domain name abuse during COVID-19.
A somewhat less known, but equally important, undertaking is the Identifier Technology Health Indicator (ITHI) initiative, focusing on analyzing trends in DNS operation.
The data from ITHI shows how traffic patterns between recursive resolvers and authoritative servers. This is helpful in mapping and understanding how the DNS actually
works and to observe trends in the flow of traffic. One interesting finding, which ITHI uncovered, is that only 208 recursive resolvers (out of millions of resolvers worldwide) were needed to see 50% of the DNS traffic of all Internet users (June 2020). More
detailed data on ITHI findings, such as the percentage of resolvers that perform Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) validation can be found
here

the development of several content types for the preview
website [r20.rs6.net] in May 2020. Join us for one of these two upcoming webinars to
