As you will recall, the GNSO has one representative sitting on the ICANN Fellowship Selection Committee, the group responsible for evaluating applications for the ICANN Fellowship Program and choosing individuals to participate as fellows. Heather Forrest has been serving in this role since 2018, but has informed Council leadership that she needs to step down. The GNSO needs to identify an interim replacement before the end of July to serve the remainder of the current term, which ends in April 2023.

Heather first entered the role when she was GNSO Chair and sought to represent the GNSO as a whole in fulfilling that role. Given the short timeline for finding a replacement and keeping this history in mind, it seems fitting that as an interim solution that a member of the current leadership team fill her slot. Sebastien has offered step in through April 2023 and complete the two remaining selection processes in this term.

If there are any concerns about the proposed approach or proposals for alternatives please raise them on list no later than 2 weeks from today, 21 June 2022. Absent concerns or alternatives, Sebastien’s confirmation will be added to the consent agenda for the July 2022 Council meeting.
