Dear Councilors,

During our October meeting, the Council agreed to Leadership’s proposed path for moving forward on accuracy-related work. The attached proposal also includes the amendments from the Council drafting team.

As you may recall, the first step of the proposal is to reach out to ICANN org with some questions related to upcoming legislative or regulatory efforts that may impact accuracy-related work. ICANN plans to respond to the questions in the attached assignment by Friday, November 29.

Proposed Deadline for SG/C/AC Feedback

Following receipt of ICANN org’s input, we will send the remaining questions in the attached proposal to interested SG/C/AC for their input. Given the proximity to the holidays, we propose giving groups until Friday, 31 January 2025 to provide their input to the Council. Please let us know if this deadline works.

Draft GAC Letter

The Council agreed to send a letter to the GAC, acknowledging the importance of accuracy-related work and the Council’s commitment to making progress on this topic. Additionally, the draft letter notes that the Council does not believe the DPA/DPS is a dependency for further work on accuracy. Instead, the letter acknowledges the Council’s commitment to make progress and plans to do this by soliciting input from interested groups, including the GAC.

Because we would like to send this letter prior to ICANN81, please make any edits to the letter by Thursday, 31 October. Note: the Council has already reviewed this letter, but it has been updated to account for the attached proposal.

Thanks,

Greg
