I am very sorry to have missed the last meeting....but I have a few objections on behalf of my stakeholder group regarding the "aspirational statement". In the first place, the use of the word "shall" is not asirational, it is declaratory. We cannot agree with that. We reserve to right to vote against something, whilst supporting the aspiration of reaching as much concensus as possible, and of rescuing any recommendations where there is a consensus. I am checking with my SG but I figured I had better let you know right away, please check the google doc.
Cheers Stephanie Perrin
Thanks Caitlin. Regarding the aspirational statement, there is one typo as to the word "followed" which should be "follows".
In a more substantive comment, the statement does not make any references to the level of consensus obtained in the Working Group. Full consensus is one possible outcome in PDP Recommendations. Several other levels of consensus exist and one wonders how the different levels of consensus would affect the aspirational statement.
Thank you,Anne

_______________________________________________Dear Councilors,
Please find two documents that will be discussed during tomorrow’s GNSO Council meeting for Agenda Item 9: Any Other Business.
9.2 - Updated Small Team Guidelines: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j5vDURSuz65R1gZxgxLKsK9H5cI_ux0YixAP9XhSgXg/edit?usp=sharing
- As a reminder, the Council discussed the Small Team Guidelines during its SPS and agreed to edit the guidelines to address some of the concerns articulated by Community members; namely, the Council agreed to remove references to “informal” in an effort to communicate that the work of small teams is conducted transparently and is an important tool in advancing the Council’s work.
9.4 - Aspirational Statement: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1l6vnCp1njSgG0rfLVIwtpEcv953RyC4UAgL660LIVTA/edit?usp=sharing
- As a reminder, the Council discussed developing an aspirational statement during its SPS. Specifically, the Council agreed to this action item: “Council to develop an aspirational (non-binding) statement to reflect that Councilors should not seek to undo bottom-up consensus-driven outcomes of GNSO WGs.” Leadership worked on the above first draft for your consideration.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Caitlin
