Dear Councillors,

This is to inform you that Jonathan Robinson has sent the letter below to all the Constituency and Stakeholder Group chairs.

Please note that time is of essence in this work and as part of that same resolution, you are hopefully already aware that each GNSO Stakeholder Group has been asked to identify one member for the CWG by 15 September.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Glen

Dear All,

As you may know, the GNSO Council recently adopted (4 September 2014) the charter for the Cross Community Working Group (CWG) to develop an IANA Stewardship Transition proposal on naming related functions.

Time is of the essence in this work and as part of that same resolution, you are hopefully already aware that each GNSO Stakeholder Group has been asked to identify one member for the CWG by 15 September.

In selecting a member for the CWG, groups I’d like to highlight the charter requirement that best efforts should be made to ensure that members:

In addition, you may also want to consider as part of your selection process as well as any communication and co-ordination within your respective groups going forward, that the charter encourages the involvement to the maximum extent possible of stakeholders who are not yet involved in ICANN groups. If you are aware of or can think of ways to engage such additional stakeholders through our existing structures, that is very welcome and may result in additional engagement and participation of such stakeholders.

Finally, please also take note that, in addition to the members appointed by each chartering organisation, anyone can join the CWG as an observer (observers will be able to actively participate and attend all meetings; however, any consensus calls or decisions that need to be made will be limited to the CWG member appointed by his or her chartering organisation).

Best wishes,

Jonathan
