Thanks Ayden, your comments are noted.

On the incremental recommendations, I would like to understand why there is a desire to remove the public Board meeting from the agenda of the Community Forum. I otherwise am supportive of these recommendations and thank the drafting team for their efforts in compiling them.

In response to your question above: The Policy Forum format does not have a Board meeting so I used it as an example of something we could do without. I see value of the public Board meeting at the AGM because of the changeover in personnel etc., but don’t believe they add value to the other ICANN meetings.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Re: [council] Draft GNSO Council comments on Proposed Incremental Changes to ICANN Meetings Strategy

Dear Donna, Carlos, and Michele—

Thank you very much for drafting these comments. While I would welcome a more comprehensive review of the meeting strategy for ICANN Public Meetings, for the purpose of this comment I would prefer that we keep our remarks within the narrow scope of the feedback that has been sought. Accordingly, I do not at this time support the submission of the second paragraph and accompanying bullet points of the high level comments.

On the incremental recommendations, I would like to understand why there is a desire to remove the public Board meeting from the agenda of the Community Forum. I otherwise am supportive of these recommendations and thank the drafting team for their efforts in compiling them.

Best wishes,

Please find attached draft GNSO Council comments on Proposed Incremental Changes to ICANN Meetings Strategy. These comments have been drafted by Michele Neylon, Carlos Raul Gutierrez and myself and are now submitted to Council for consideration.

These comments include some high level comments about ICANN meetings that go beyond the intended scope of the public comment being sought. Michele, Carlos and I understand that the Council as a whole may not agree with the general sentiment of the comments and as such welcome your feedback.

The aim is to have the comments approved during our Council meeting on 30 January, in order to submit the comments by the deadline of 1 February.
