“starting the design of a Program to acquaint or train PDP participants in the methodology and techniques described in the Consensus Playbook”

Very interesting idea Kurt!  It seems this might boil down to selecting the right trainer.  Are you thinking the trainer would work in person on an interactive basis?

Subject: Re: [council] Possible Additional Budget Request (ABR) - Consensus Playbook Training Tool

[EXTERNAL]

Hi Marika:

Thank you for this. I think in place of a “tool” describing the Consensus Playbook, I’d rather see a Program, or starting the design of a Program to acquaint or train PDP participants in the methodology and techniques described in the Consensus Playbook, Designing a Program would indicate which tools should be effective when integrated into that Program.

When discussed during the Council session, I believe this item was described in terms of the creation of a video describing the Playbook. At that time, I voiced the opinion that a video might or might not be the “right tool,” thinking that, if people were not reading the playbook, they might not watch the video or that the video might lack important detail. I think, in response to that comment, the description was amended to a more general asset. I appreciate that but I probably did not explain my thinking clearly.

I’d prefer we request budget to at least design, if not establish, a program so that PDP leaders and participants are exposed to and trained in the Consensus Playbook and similar accepted consensus building approaches.

I’d be happy to discuss in greater detail and look forward to comments from other Councillors.

Best regards,

Kurt
