I have lately been more a "lurker" than an active participant on this list, but the discussion leading to this "informal roundtable" triggers a comment, even now that plans are made.

It seems to me that this has been but one thread of a number of such threads (another being the Board asking for direct comment from a CWG) that are weaving a structure that circumvents ICANN's formal hard-fought and well-thought organization. What others can you name?

I will admit to being susceptible to a good conspiracy theory, but it seems to me that a lot of what has been fueling discussion on more than just the GNSO Council list is this tension.

FYI, the plan for this is now an informal roundtable for the SO/AC Chairs with Rod from 3 to 5pm. This will be followed by a 6:30 pm dinner.

As this is not a formal meeting, I do not intend to put forward any GNSO position, to speak for the GNSO, or to take any official GNSO message to this discussion.
