Chuck,
This initiative made a lot of noise around ICANN communities. The
general idea of this letter: need more data, need more time and is a result of
agreement between councils: I support this.
This is a very specific substance with limited number of people
who really have all details in hands.

<<DNS-CERT
Letter Draft 22 Mar 10.doc>>
Attached is
a draft letter from Chris Disspain, Cheryl Langdon-Orr and myself intended for
Peter Dengate-Thrush and Rod Beckstrom and also to be posted on the ICANN
Public Comment site for the DNS-Cert consultation. As you know, the comment
period is currently scheduled to end on 29 March, so there is only one week
left. Note that the letter is just slightly over one page long so it is a
quick read. The main elements are: 1) much more detail is needed; 2) a 15-day
extension to the public comment period is requested; 3) a joint SO/AC WG be
formed to investigate the CERT idea. I personally support the comments
and requests in this letter and believe they are consistent with GNSO concerns,
but I would like to make reasonably sure that that is the case.
Does anyone
object to me signing this letter in my role as GNSO Council Chair? If so,
please let me know in the next 48 hours (i.e., by COB on Wednesday, 24 March) so
that this letter can be sent with enough lead time to accommodate the request
to extend the comment period by 15 days.
Chuck
