The Information Transparency Initiative (ITI) team is hosting two webinars to provide a demo of preview.icann.org. ITI began [r20.rs6.net] in January 2018 with the goal of delivering increased and improved accessibility and findability of information on icann.org. The ITI Team completed the development of several content types for the preview website [r20.rs6.net] in May 2020. Join us for one of these two upcoming webinars to learn about the new icann.org.

NEW: Nomination Opens for Dr. Tarek Kamel Award for Capacity Building

 

Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) opened a one-month nomination period for the Dr. Tarek Kamel Award for Capacity Building.

 

ICANN first introduced [r20.rs6.net] the Dr. Tarek Kamel Award for Capacity Building in January to recognize ICANN community members for significant efforts in developing capacity in areas related to ICANN's Mission. The award was established in honor of the late Dr. Tarek Kamel, an Internet pioneer known for his contributions to global Internet governance. At the time of his passing, Kamel was ICANN's Senior Advisor to the President and Senior Vice President for Government and Intergovernmental Organization Engagement.

NEW: The Africa Regional Plan for FY21-25 – What it Means

I am pleased to share with you ICANN's final Africa Regional Plan for Fiscal Years (FY) 2021-2025.

 

The launch of the ICANN Strategic Plan for FY21-25 [r20.rs6.net] provided an opportunity to review and realign our engagement plan for Africa. Accordingly, the Global Stakeholder Engagement (GSE) Africa team, in collaboration with the community, initiated the process to align the ICANN Africa Regional Plan with ICANN's. An Africa Strategy Working Group (ASWG2020), made up of 25 diverse representatives selected through a public call, was then formed in January 2020 to develop the regional plan.

 

 

 

NEW: European Union Update: The Digital Services Act

 

Read the latest Government Engagement publication that provides an update on the Digital Service Act initiative launched by the European Union. The paper provides a background and analysis of the initiative with the potential relevance to the ICANN community and to ICANN's technical role in the Internet ecosystem.

REMINDER: Call for Expressions of Interest: Standing Panel for the ICANN Independent Review Process

 

On 31 March 2020, ICANN opened a call for Expressions of Interest for panelists to serve on the omnibus Standing Panel for the ICANN Independent Review Process (IRP).

 

Candidates for the IRP omnibus Standing Panel should review the Expressions of Interest document [r20.rs6.net]before submission. The document includes the following information:

 

·     Panel Position Description

·     Required or Highly Preferred Skills

·     Required or Highly Preferred Experience

·     Time Commitment

·     Compensation and Selection

 

Expressions of Interest should be submitted to irp-standingpanel-eoi2020@icann.org by 23:59 UTC on Friday, 31 July 2020.
