Thanks James.

I personally support this request.

The reasons for the extension are clearly stated in the request - volunteer burnout, complexity of topics, new working methods and the reality and requirements of public consultation - and are valid. Some subgroups, such as the one looking at the Ombudsman, have been delayed by mandated independent reviews of the office. Others are quite complex legally and have a rather complicated interrelationship with other aspects of the transition.

It's important for the community to get these last important bits of the transition done right, rather than fast. I'll note that no additional monies are being requested, merely a transfer of funding from FY17 to FY18. The CCWG-ACCT, under the exemplary leadership of Sanchez, Weil and Rickert, has been conservative in their stewardship of WS2 funds and I expect that the ongoing CCWG leadership will continue to be as well. As one of the subgroup rapporteurs and a member of the Legal Committee, as well as a few others, I can assure you that no one wants this project to wrap up quicker than those of us who have dedicated a substantial portion of the past three years of out lives to it. All we ask is a chance to complete the project in a responsible manner, without unnecessary and unrealistic haste, recognising that we are all volunteers emphatically dedicated to finalising a transition the entire community can be proud of.

Kind Regards,

Ed Morris

Councilors –

Please see attached for a request from the CCWG-ACCT co-chairs.

Synopsis:

The CCWG-ACCT will not complete its work on Workstream 2 (WS2) before the end of FY2017 in June. They are requesting an extension of this work, and to carry funding for WS2 forward in to the FY2018 budget.

Let’s discuss our response, if any.

Thank you,

J.
