Dear Donna,

If past behaviour is any guide, as far as I remember the ATRT2 was about 15-16 “representatives", without including 2 or 3 “experts”, plus some staff and the Chair of the BOARD and the Chair of the GAC who fully participated in the WHOLE exercise. NTIA was also a FULL member of the Team. On top, some Reps has assistants most of the time with them in the f2f meetings and calls. The Team Chair had also 2 or 3 Co Chairs from within the Team.

For me the worst part of the exercise was 1/ lack of any budget other than ICANN staff at the beginning of the exercise, which led to long delays, 2/ lack of a substantive discussion on the scope of the review which was basically delimited by the boundaries of the ATRT1 review, and finally 3/ lack of any progress report on impact and progress of ATRT1 recommendations. Particularly #3 worries me because the Nielsen report is a rather superficial survey and not the type of hard data that is used in competition reviews. Further more, the consumer trust survey by Nielsen leaves with doubts about the difference between Registrants and “final” users.

As I mentioned in another comment to heather, I hope tomorrow we will have time for those substantive questions to ICANN, as the endorsement (or not) for candidates can wait until Dec 14.

Hi Heather,

It’s a bit hard to campaign when we don’t know what slots are available, but I agree with the sentiment of your message.

Margie said in Dublin that the size of the Team would be between 15-22 and I don’t know if that includes ‘experts’.

Perhaps in supporting GNSO candidates the Council could strongly encourage Fadi and Thomas, to ensure that those most impacted by the review be adequately represented on the Team.

Donna.

Dear all,

Are we at all able to campaign for additional slots, given the critical nature of this review to the GNSO's ongoing work? Surely we are the community most affected by the subject of review.

Best wishes,

Heather

Hi,

to my knowledge this is still very much a black box, i.e. we do not know the number of slots or criteria for the choice. We assume our recommendations might carry some weight, but that may not be the case.

Best,

Volker

All,

from the agenda I understand that the council is going to discuss endorsing “GNSO representatives” who then may be taken into consideration by the selectors (Fadi and GAC chair Thomas Schneider). I wonder whether there are criteria already available – in terms of quantity and quality – in order to facilitate this council decision until 13 Dec. Do we have to develop those criteria? Do we know how many slots will be available for the GNSO?

Best regards

Wolf-Ulrich

Dear All,

Please note that Jonathan Zuck’s affiliation was inadvertently left out of the announcement. This should get fixed shortly so please add his name to the list of candidates to be considered by the GNSO Council which makes the total eighteen:
